The Ministry of Economy spoke about the advantages of introducing a free trade zone with the USA

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine announced the potential benefits of creating a free trade zone with the United States. Such a step will open wider opportunities for the export of Ukrainian goods to the American market. About this stated Deputy Minister of Economy — Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka.

“Ukraine is interested in this despite the fact that the USA is not our largest trading partner. But we are interested in free trade agreements with all G7 members. That is, we have with Britain, Canada, the EU. We need the USA and Japan.”, he explained.

According to Kachka, the relevant proposal was conveyed by President Volodymyr Zelensky in a letter to President Donald Trump. Ukraine seeks duty-free access to the markets of developed countries, as this will allow Ukrainian exporters to earn higher profits.

“Higher quality requirements create higher added value and higher profitability. From this perspective, it is important for us to emphasize the possibility of exporting to the US and having a free trade agreement,” – added the trade representative of Ukraine.

Kachka also emphasized that the introduction of a free trade regime with the USA will improve the conditions for the activity of the American-Ukrainian Investment Fund, the creation of which is planned after the signing of an agreement in the field of subsoil use.

We will remind that on May 8, the Verkhovna Rada supported the ratification of the so-called “subsoil agreement” with the United States and launched the creation of a Ukrainian-American reconstruction investment fund. The law was signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi on May 12.
