NABU accused Naftogaz of a destructive position regarding the return of 1.6 billion hryvnias to Ukraine
For the first time in history, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has the opportunity to return 1.6 billion hryvnias from abroad. However, this is hindered by the destructive position of Naftogaz management, declares NABU press office.
NABU and SAP systematically work to return assets to Ukraine and counter corruption schemes that threaten state interests. Currently, for the first time in the history of Ukraine, there is a real opportunity to return UAH 1.6 billion from abroad. For comparison, these funds could buy more than 100,000 FPV drones.
“However, a destructive position on the part of NJSC Naftogaz may lead to the loss of such an opportunity, which anti-corruption bodies are actively working on. Protection of state interests is the joint responsibility of all state institutions, therefore the management of Naftogaz is obliged to take all necessary measures.” – the message says.
Anti-corruption bodies call for transparency and responsible behavior. Ukraine should not lose the chance to recover significant assets due to inaction or lack of adequate response.
We will remind that on December 4, 2024, the Supervisory Board of NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” appointed the financial director of the Naftogaz Group, Roman Chumak, as the acting chairman of the company’s board. This decision was unanimously supported by all seven members of the supervisory board. In addition, the board decided to start the selection procedure for the company’s new manager, planning to complete it by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
