National Council calls on media to provide ‘correct’ coverage of mobilisation and work of TCC

The National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting appealed to the Ukrainian media to “correctly and professionally” cover the topics of mobilization and activities of Territorial Procurement Centers (TCC). These issues are particularly sensitive, as they become the object of active informational attacks by Russian propaganda, which spreads fakes with the aim of undermining confidence in the country’s mobilization and defense capabilities.

According to the media literacy project “Filter”, the Russian authorities allocated 1.6 billion dollars for propaganda, a large part of which is aimed at the Ukrainian audience. The main targets of this disinformation include:

  • dissemination of false information about mobilization processes;
  • manipulations to discredit Ukrainian state institutions and the army;
  • intimidation of society to reduce international support for Ukraine.

The National Council emphasized the need for careful fact-checking and correct citation when covering controversial cases related to TCC. Recently, the number of document checks by TCC employees has increased throughout Ukraine, including Kyiv, Cherkasy, Lviv, Odesa and other cities.

Also, in October 2024, new rules for volunteers that simplify the mobilization process came into force in Ukraine. These changes, developed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces, make it possible to attract volunteers to the service faster and more efficiently.

In addition, since September, a new system of centralized distribution of summonses through Ukrposhta became operational, which made the mobilization process more organized and less dependent on the physical delivery of summonses.
