From now on, a specialized working group will select candidates for management positions in enterprises managed by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. This will make it possible to attract experienced specialists and increase the efficiency of meeting the needs of the Defense Forces, informs Ministry of Defense
As the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Stanislav Hayder, explained, such a decision actually restores the competitive procedure for the appointment of managers at enterprises that are part of the Ministry of Defense.
“Yesterday, the selection working group started its work. This way, we will be able to attract professional and honest managers to the formation of development strategies, management and supervision of the management of our enterprises”, – he noted.
The ministry recalled that due to the introduction of martial law, mandatory competitions for the positions of managers and heads of executive bodies of state-owned enterprises were suspended, with some exceptions. The restoration of competitive selection concerns only enterprises that are under the operational control of the Ministry of Defense, in order to ensure transparency and fairness in the appointment to management positions.
How the selection of candidates will take place
The working group created by the Ministry of Defense will determine and approve the criteria for evaluating candidates for each enterprise separately. Selection will be made on the basis of transparent criteria and clear requirements for the position. Tender announcements will be open to all interested parties.
It is planned to involve a professional recruiting company in the selection procedure, as well as to invite representatives of international organizations, diplomatic institutions and the expert environment to participate in the work of the candidate selection group. All these measures are aimed at ensuring high standards of corporate governance, in accordance with the principles of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The Ministry of Defense expects that the return of the competitive system for the appointment of enterprise managers will increase the trust of the public and international partners in the department’s management decisions, confirming the status of the Ministry of Defense as an effective and responsible owner of state-owned enterprises.
