The Ministry of Finance reported that the government does not plan to raise taxes this year

In the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reported, that all the planned changes, including the introduction of a tax on income obtained through digital platforms, as well as an excise duty on sweetened drinks, could come into force next year as part of the implementation of the national income strategy until 2030. The government does not plan to raise taxes in 2025.

The Chairman of the Financial Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, noted that consultations on the draft law on taxation of digital platforms are ongoing, and he does not see any prospects for its consideration in the session hall yet. According to him, the situation also remains unchanged regarding the excise tax on sweet carbonated drinks.

Back in July 2024, the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy recommended to the parliament to support in the first reading the draft law on the introduction of an excise tax on water with sugar, sweeteners or flavorings. His status has not been updated since then.

The draft law on taxation of digital platforms, which provides for the introduction of a tax on the income of individuals obtained from the sale of goods or the provision of services through online platforms, is currently being worked out in the committee. Such activity covers, in particular, marketplaces Rozetka, Prom, Olx and others.

We will remind, on July 1, People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported, that according to the Budget Declaration for 2026-2028, the government intends to introduce both excise duty on sugary drinks and taxation of digital platforms in 2025.
