The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the charge d’affaires of China because of the captured citizens of the People’s Republic of China

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summoned the temporary charge d’affaires of China to provide clarifications regarding the reports of the participation of Chinese citizens in hostilities on the side of Russia. This happened after the Ukrainian military captured two citizens of the People’s Republic of China, reported Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga.

“We strongly condemn Russia’s use of Chinese citizens in the war against Ukraine, as well as their participation in hostilities against Ukrainian forces. A temporary chargé d’affaires of China was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to protest and receive an explanation.”, the message says.

Sybiga also emphasized that the presence of Chinese citizens in the ranks of Russian troops undermines the credibility of China as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and calls into question Beijing’s declared position on peace.

We will remind you that on April 7, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Ukrainian military captured two Chinese citizens in Donetsk region who were fighting as part of the Russian forces. He also instructed the foreign minister to urgently contact the Chinese side and find out its position on this case.
