The Russian Federation struck a military training center in Poltava with a ballistic missile

Russian troops launched a powerful missile attack on Poltava, which resulted in significant casualties among the civilian population and the military. According to preliminary, unofficial data, it is about dozens of dead and wounded. Local Telegram channels published a video from the scene, citing Russian media.

Eyewitnesses report that the rocket hit one of the military training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, located in the northwestern part of the city. The impact was so powerful that thick clouds of black smoke rose into the sky, which could be seen from different parts of Poltava.

Urgent blood collection of all groups has been announced in local Telegram channels. The Poltava blood transfusion station at the regional hospital called on citizens to actively donate blood for the wounded. In the city, the operational headquarters for the liquidation of the consequences of the attack also started work. According to preliminary data, more than 10 residential buildings were damaged. To eliminate the consequences, 30 utility workers and 10 units of equipment, as well as other special services, were involved.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi commented tragedy, stating that at this time it is known about two strikes by ballistic missiles that hit the territory of the educational institution and the nearby hospital. One of the buildings of the Institute of Communications was partially destroyed, and people were trapped under the rubble. Rescuers managed to pull out many victims, but the number of injured exceeds 180 people. As of this time, 41 people have been confirmed dead.

The President expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized the need for an immediate investigation into all the circumstances of this tragedy. He also thanked the rescuers and medics who have been working at the scene from the first minutes after the impact, saving people’s lives.
