The second stage of the prisoner exchange between Ukraine and the Russian Federation took place: 307 defenders returned home

On May 24, the second stage of the exchange of prisoners of war between Ukraine and Russia took place. The exchange is carried out within the framework of the agreements reached in Istanbul. This time, 307 Ukrainian citizens were freed from captivity. About this reported President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
Information about the new stage of the exchange began to appear after 13:00. Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak announced positive news even before the official confirmation. Later, Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that another 307 Ukrainian defenders had returned home. He noted that the exchange is carried out in the format “1000 for 1000” in accordance with the agreements reached in Turkey.
“Among those who returned today are soldiers of our army, the State Border Guard Service, and the National Guard of Ukraine. Thank you to everyone who is involved in the exchange process, who works around the clock. Our goal is to return each and every one of them from Russian captivity. We continue our interaction with partners to make this possible.”, – said Zelensky.
Defenders released from captivity will undergo a mandatory medical examination, will receive support for physical and psychological recovery, as well as all prescribed payments for the period of captivity. Thus, in two days, Ukraine has already returned 697 people. The next stage of the exchange is scheduled for Sunday, May 25.
