The State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicion to an instructor who beat a cadet at a training ground

The State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicion to the training platoon instructor who beat the cadet at the training ground in the Kirovohrad region. About this informs press service of the department.

The incident occurred in September 2024 during fire training. A conflict arose between the instructor and one of the recruits, during which the serviceman beat the cadet with the butt of a machine gun. The cadet was hospitalized with injuries. The very next day, Bureau investigators opened criminal proceedings under 5th century 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The commander of the training platoon, who was at the scene, did not take any measures to stop the beating. According to the conclusions of the forensic medical examination, bodily injuries were classified as medium severity.

The instructor of the training platoon was notified of suspicion of abuse of power or official authority by a military official (Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides up to 12 years of imprisonment.

The commander of the training platoon was charged with inactivity of the military authorities (Part 4 of Article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Currently, investigative actions are ongoing, the issue of selecting a preventive measure and removing the suspects from their positions is being resolved. Procedural management is carried out by the Kropyvnytskyi specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Southern region.

“The State Bureau of Investigation emphasizes the inadmissibility of such facts in military collectives. The Bureau will always react harshly to any such manifestations of violence and bring the perpetrators to justice. We call on servicemen who have become victims or witnesses of such facts to immediately contact the SBI to protect their rights and legitimate interests.” — concluded in the SBI.
