Ukraine invited EU leaders to visit Kyiv on May 9 in opposition to the parade in Moscow

The Ukrainian government has appealed to the leaders of the European Union with an invitation to visit Kyiv on May 9, the day when a military parade presided over by Vladimir Putin is traditionally held in Moscow. The initiative is intended to be a diplomatic response to the Kremlin’s symbolic show of force. About this informs Political.
On April 14, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga conveyed this invitation to his European colleagues during a meeting in Luxembourg. In his address, the diplomat urged them to “demonstrate unity and determination in the face of the greatest aggression in Europe since World War II.”
In addition, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy intends to receive in Kyiv on May 9 the leaders of the so-called “coalition of the willing” – states that support Ukraine – to jointly discuss security guarantees for the country after a possible agreement on a ceasefire with Russia. According to Sybiga, the place of the meeting has not yet been specified.
Currently, there are reports of preliminary negotiations regarding a possible visit to Kyiv in early May of several heads of state, among whom the future Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, may be.
At the same time, the head of the Kremlin invited the leaders of Israel, China, Brazil, Slovakia and Serbia to Moscow to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. According to Russian mass media, the leaders of the USA and most EU member states did not receive an invitation.
