The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has referred the treason case of a former NSDC official to court.

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation completed pre-trial investigation in the case of high treason concerning the former Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. The indictment has already been submitted to the court.

The investigation established that the 5th Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation created a criminal organization with the purpose of conducting intelligence and subversive activities against Ukraine. It was headed by the head of the 9th (“Ukrainian”) department of the operational information department of the 5th service of the FSB, Ihor Chumakov. The organization included FSB employees, among them Oleksandr Chulindin, Marina Teryentieva, as well as representatives of other state bodies of the aggressor country.

In this activity, the FSB involved representatives of the former Ukrainian authorities who moved to Moscow after 2014, including the former deputy secretary of the National Security Council. The criminal group also included the former head of the Security Service of Ukraine in Crimea, who involved other citizens of Ukraine in their activities.

The ex-official coordinated the activities of the Ukrainian part of the organization, which was engaged in the collection and transmission of information containing state secrets to representatives of the Russian Federation, and also tried to influence personnel appointments in the Ukrainian security forces. As a cover, he created a “political office” in Moscow, which was outwardly engaged in socio-political activities, but in fact conducted intelligence and subversive work against Ukraine. Employees of this office involved in secret cooperation persons with access to intelligence information on the territory of Ukraine and able to help the FSB.
