Italy is preparing the ninth package of military aid for Ukraine: anti-aircraft systems SAMP/T, Stinger, Storm Shadow and artillery

Italy plans to announce the ninth package of military aid to Ukraine before the G7 summit, which will begin on June 13. The package is expected to include SAMP/T anti-aircraft missile systems, artillery, Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems and Storm Shadow long-range missiles.

The SAMP/T anti-aircraft complex will be Italy’s most significant contribution to the security of Ukraine. This complex is designed for anti-aircraft defense of mobile military units and important facilities against attacks by drones, missiles and aircraft. The system has a target detection range of up to 80 kilometers and can launch 8 missiles in 10 seconds.

Other expected components of the aid package:

• Artillery installations
• Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems
• Storm Shadow long-range missiles

Cost and availability:

• One SAMP/T complex costs 700 million euros.
• Aster missiles for SAMP/T have a cost of 400 thousand to 2 million euros per unit.
• Italy has only five SAMP/T complexes, one of which has already been deployed in Slovakia.
