The State Medical Service issued the first permit for the import of medical cannabis into Ukraine
The State Service of Ukraine for Medicinal Products and Narcotics Control issued the first permit for the import of medical cannabis into the country. About this informs press service of the department.
“The permit was issued for a substance that is registered in Ukraine and entered in the State Register of Medicinal Products of Ukraine”, — specified in the State Medical Service.
We will remind you that on August 16, 2024, the law on the legalization of medical cannabis entered into force in Ukraine. According to the document, medicinal products based on medical cannabis will be made in pharmacies and prescribed by prescription to patients for whom conventional drugs have proved ineffective or caused side effects. In November 2024, the government approved the procedure for the circulation of medical cannabis in Ukraine and set the deadline for submitting applications for receiving quotas for 2025.
It will be possible to buy such medicines in Ukraine only with an electronic prescription, which must clearly indicate the dosage form, dosage and composition of active substances. It is expected that medicinal cannabis products will be available in the form of oral drops, hard capsules and dental pastes.
The law on the legalization of medical cannabis was signed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi in February 2024.
