Ukraine is working on strengthening the air defense system to protect the western regions of the country
Ukraine is negotiating with its allies to create an effective air defense system to protect the western regions from massive missile attacks by Russia.
This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umyerov, after the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council.
Umerov noted that these negotiations became a priority after the recent large-scale attacks by Russia, during which more than 200 missiles and drones were launched. These events once again confirmed the need to strengthen air defense, especially in the western regions, which are increasingly becoming targets of the aggressor.
“We familiarized our partners with the current situation in detail and discussed further actions regarding the supply of air defense systems and interceptor missiles. Our main goal now is to create a reliable ‘air defense shield’ that will ensure the protection of the western regions of Ukraine,” the minister emphasized.
Umerov also thanked the allies for their support and noted that more and more partners support the lifting of restrictions on the use of long-range weapons by Ukraine in response to Russia’s aggressive actions. This testifies to the growing unity of the international community in supporting Ukraine in the struggle for its independence and territorial integrity.
Work on the creation of the “air defense shield” continues, and the Ukrainian side is confident that this measure will significantly increase the country’s defense capabilities and become an important element of protecting the civilian population from missile threats.
We will also remind you that earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian F-16s had received the latest electronic warfare system, which even surpasses the equipment of the US allies. In addition, Ukraine tested its ballistic missile and used the F-16 for the first time to repel Russian attacks.
