The Verkhovna Rada Committee supported the creation of an advisory group for the selection of members of the Accounting Chamber

The Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada supported the draft resolution on the creation of an advisory group of experts that will select candidates for the positions of members of the Accounting Chamber. About this reported head of the Budget Committee, Roksolana Pidlas.
“We have officially received proposals from international organizations from the Government regarding three experts to the advisory group of experts (DGE), which will select candidates for the positions of new members of the Accounting Chamber. Today, the VRU Budget Committee sent the draft resolution to a vote in the Verkhovna Rada hall.”, – noted Podlasa.
According to her, this group will deal with the selection of candidates for vacant positions in the Accounting Chamber, relevant as of December 19, 2024. The international part of the advisory group included Igors Ludborzhs from Latvia – a member of the European Court of Auditors and a certified auditor since 1994, Pascal Mounier from France – a senior auditor of the French Chamber of Accounts with 24 years of experience, and Lee Summerfield from Great Britain – the director of the National Audit Office, who has 25 years of experience in the field of auditing public programs.
In total, the group will consist of six people: three international experts and three representatives from the Verkhovna Rada, while the international experts will have the predominant right to vote. After approval of the Committee’s decision, the draft resolution will be included in the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada.
Next, the parliament will select three Ukrainian experts from the candidacies submitted by the factions by ranking vote, and then 226 or more people’s deputies must support the resolution approving the composition of the advisory group. After that, the acceptance of documents from those willing to apply for the position of a member of the Accounting Chamber will begin. The submission will last 30 days.
“A member of the Accounting Chamber can be a citizen of Ukraine, no younger than 30 years old, who speaks Ukrainian and English/French, has at least a master’s degree, a total work experience of 7+ years, work experience in the field of state control (audit), economy, finance or law of 5+ years and an impeccable business reputation”, – Podlasa explained.
