Three Ukrainian films were among the contenders for the Oscar 2025

The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has included three Ukrainian films in the longlist of contenders for the Oscar 2025 award. The list of 169 films includes “La Palisade”, “The Porcelain War” and “Peaceful People”. About this informs press service of the State Cinema of Ukraine.
“La Palisade”, directed by Philip Sotnichenko, is presented in the “International Feature Film” category. The events take place in Ukraine in 1996, five months before the introduction of the moratorium on the death penalty. In the center of the plot are two old friends, a police detective and a forensic psychiatrist, who are investigating the murder of their colleague.
“Porcelain War”, created by directors Brendan Bellomo and Slava Leontiev, tells the story of three Ukrainian artists who are engaged in porcelain animalistics against the background of war.
The documentary “Peaceful People” directed by Oksana Karpovich is based on radio intercepts of conversations between the Russian occupiers and their families. The film reveals the everyday attitude of Russians to cruelty and war.
The Academy Awards ceremony will take place on the night of March 3, 2025 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
