Trump administration plans to establish truce in Ukraine by Easter: Bloomberg

The administration of US President Donald Trump informed European officials of the intention to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine by Easter, which this year falls on April 20. About this informs Bloomberg.
“The Trump administration has told European officials it wants to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine by Easter, according to people briefed on the talks”, the message says.
Some experts consider the planned pace of talks, which will begin this week in Saudi Arabia with the participation of high-ranking US and Russian officials, quite ambitious and perhaps unrealistic. There is also an opinion that a more likely scenario is to reach a settlement by the end of the year.
At the same time, European officials are working on a new large-scale package aimed at increasing spending on defense and support for Kyiv. However, the funding plans will not be announced until Germany’s election on February 23 to avoid political controversy ahead of the vote.
We will remind that last week Donald Trump started his peace initiative with a phone call to the Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and his Minister of Defense Pete Hegseth shocked European officials with a statement that European countries will be responsible for the security guarantees and peacekeeping forces necessary to ensure the stability of Ukraine after the conclusion of the agreement.
