The National Bank recognized Poroshenko’s business reputation as not impeccable

In connection with the introduction of sanctions against Petro Poroshenko, the National Bank of Ukraine recognized his business reputation as impeccable as the owner of a significant stake in the International Investment Bank JSC (MIB JSC). About this informs NBU press office.
The relevant decision was made by the Committee on Supervision and Regulation of Bank Activities, the Oversite of the Payment Infrastructure of the National Bank. The basis was a sign of the impeccable business reputation of the owner of a significant share in JSC “MIB”, defined in subsection 2 of clause 62 of chapter 6 of section II of the Regulation on bank licensing, approved by the resolution of the NBU Board dated 12.22.2018 No. 149 (as amended).
According to Article 14 of the Law of Ukraine “On Banks and Banking Activities”, the owners of a significant participation must have an impeccable business reputation. Monitoring of compliance with these requirements is carried out by the National Bank.
Petro Poroshenko owns the shares of JSC “MIB” indirectly through 100% of the shares of PJSC “Closed non-diversified corporate investment fund “Prime Assets Capital”, which, in turn, directly owns 64.98292% of the bank’s shares. The decision on sanctions against Poroshenko was adopted by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on February 12, 2025 and put into effect by Presidential Decree No. 81/2025.
The meeting of the Committee was held remotely in the format of a video conference, which is provided for by the Law of Ukraine “On Administrative Proceedings” (Article 67). The meeting was attended by Poroshenko’s representative, attorney Ihor Golovan, and Oleksandr Hryshchenko, representative of JSC “MIB”, which met the requirements of the law. The National Bank provided an opportunity for the parties to provide explanations within the framework of open administrative proceedings.
Despite the warning about the remote format of the meeting, people’s deputies from the “European Solidarity” party — Nina Yuzhanina, Mykhailo Bondar, Artur Gerasimov, Rostislav Pavlenko, as well as lawyer Ilya Novikov — arrived at the NBU building, demanding physical presence at the meeting.
The National Bank considers their actions, including conducting a live broadcast on Channel 5 and calling the police, as an attempt to put pressure on NBU employees and disrupt the work of the Committee. The National Bank reported that it is considering the possibility of applying to law enforcement agencies regarding pressure and obstruction of activity by the specified persons.
