The Council proposes to mobilize pensioners instead of 18-year-olds to participate in the war

The mobilization of pensioners could be more effective for the defense of the country than the recruitment of young men aged 18-25. These are pensioners who have recently retired from the police. They could be more useful to the Armed Forces than 18-year-old recruits who still need to be trained. People’s deputy from European Solidarity Sofia Fedina expressed this opinion on the air of one of the YouTube channels.
There is currently a lot of discussion about the mobilization of young men between the ages of 18 and 25. The law prohibits taking them to war, but Ukraine’s foreign partners are increasingly calling on our authorities to grant permission for the mobilization of young men from the age of 18.
According to Sofya Fedyna, Ukraine has a sufficient mobilization resource of young men aged 18 to 25 without a draft. For example, recently retired police officers could be an effective addition to the Armed Forces. These men, who are a little over 40, are still full of energy. They have combat skills, know how to handle weapons and know what military discipline is. They do not need to be taught military affairs from scratch.
The People’s Deputy believes that the mobilization of such men could provide a good addition to the army. In addition, Fedina mentioned men under the age of 25 who were previously recognized as having limited fitness. Due to a loophole in the law, which the legislators did not close in time, such men are mobilized, unlike their healthy peers. Therefore, it is necessary to immediately introduce an amendment to the law that would prohibit the mobilization of this category of men.
“The limited fit under 25 years, who were taken by the TCC, if it is their will, should be able to release themselves. Since the actions against them were illegal”, – emphasized the deputy.
Fedina also emphasized that the issue of mobilization should not be taboo for discussion in society. She called on the government to be transparent and open about mobilization plans and the need to involve different population groups in the defense of the country.
“We must defend our state together, using all available resources, but do it wisely and fairly”, the deputy concluded.
