Ukraine will receive a $20 billion loan from the US: Zelenskyy

The United States of America decided to grant Ukraine a loan of 20 billion dollars. About this stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in his evening address.

America decided to provide 20 billion dollars. These are funds secured by frozen Russian assets. Part of the G7 decision on $50 billion for Ukraine is for our defense, for our stability. This is what will really sustain us. And it is important to implement it already this year. Thank you to the United States, thank you to the entire Group of Seven, – said Zelensky.

According to Le Monde, the United States plans to split this loan between economic and military aid, particularly in the energy sector and infrastructure projects. This information was confirmed by US Deputy National Security Adviser Daylip Singh, noting that part of the funds will come through the World Bank, with strict standards of accountability and transparency.

The other half of this aid will be directed to military needs, but, according to Singh, this will require the approval of the US Congress to increase the amount of funding, as well as making some technical adjustments to existing programs.

In addition, it is worth noting that the Council of the EU approved a package of financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 35 billion euros, which will be provided in the form of a loan. This decision will enter into force after publication in the Official Journal of the EU.

Earlier, Zelenskyi also announced that the US is preparing a separate aid package worth 800 million dollars, which will be aimed at the production of Ukrainian drones.
