Cabinet of Ministers approves new changes to strengthen military registration: Umerov

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a new concept of conscription, taking an important step towards the digitalisation of the defence sector. According to Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, this approach is aimed at ensuring greater transparency and efficiency in the military registration process.

Ukraine continues to digitise the defence sector, making the conscription process fairer and more efficient,’ the minister said.

One of the key changes is the introduction of a unified electronic data exchange system that will unite the territorial recruitment centres, the Security Service of Ukraine, intelligence agencies and the National Police. This innovation will facilitate fast and accurate tracking of offenders and more effective coordination of their involvement in the TCCs.

Digitalisation increases transparency and helps to better organise the recruitment of our Defence Forces. This is a decision to restore justice to those who faithfully fulfil their duty to their homeland,’ Umerov added.

The Minister of Defence stressed that the innovations will strengthen Ukraine’s defence capability by ensuring more transparent military accounting and contributing to the army’s combat capability.

As a reminder, in September, the Ministry of Defence presented a draft law that would allow citizens to register for military service online using electronic identification. Under the new rules, conscripts will be able to register through a special service called the Electronic Office of Conscripts, Persons Liable for Military Service and Reservists, and update their details without the need for personal presence and medical examinations at the stage of registration.
