Ukrainian Armed Forces strike on Russian ammunition arsenal in Kotlubani: there are suggestions that it was only nearby
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the successful destruction of the Kotluban missile arsenal in the Volgograd region of Russia. According to the report of the General Staff, the attack was carried out at night on the warehouse where the missile and artillery weapons of the Russian troops were stored and modernized.
“Tonight, damage was inflicted on the arsenal of storage and modernization of missile and artillery weapons of the Russian troops, which is near the village of Kotluban, Volgograd Region”, – it is said in statements of the General Staff, published on Facebook.
On the eve of the attack, an echelon with Iranian missiles arrived at the arsenal, which made this object an important target for Ukrainian forces. Despite dense cover by means of electronic warfare (EW) and anti-aircraft defense (APD), Ukrainian units successfully completed their combat mission. After the strike, a large-scale fire broke out on the territory of the arsenal, and the ammunition began to detonate.
The operation was carried out by the Unmanned Systems Forces in cooperation with units of the Special Operations Forces, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the Security Service of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Russian service of Radio Liberty published satellite images of the object after the attack, which recorded the consequences of the fire near the arsenal.
Although there were probably no direct hits on the arsenal itself, satellite images from September 29 show a large-scale fire near the military facility.
