The contracting processes, which pave the way for the production of 100 new passenger cars for Ukrzaliznytsia, have been completed. About this reported the press service of the company.
“The company signed an agreement with the domestic manufacturing plant PJSC “Kryukiv Carriage Works” on the purchase of passenger cars of new models with innovative technical and planning solutions in T size, so a total of 100 passenger cars were ordered this year under the corresponding budget program.” – says the message.
The last lot of wagons included in this order will be serviceable for 20 years longer than conventional wagons. They will have extended maintenance intervals and require fewer maintenance personnel.
Within the framework of the general contract, the first 5 cars of the new generation will receive modern control systems, an almost 80% greater operating resource and an increased capacity – up to 44 passengers in a compartment car, which is 10% more than the standard figure.
The new carriages will have an extended body and improved layout: the length of the sleeping place will reach 2.2 meters. For the first time, air suspension will be used for Ukrainian sleeping cars, which will ensure smoother movement and reduce vibrations during the trip. Automatic sliding doors and hermetic transitions between cars, located flush with the floor, are designed to make the use of cars more convenient for passengers.
These carriages will also be equipped with fully electric heating with individual temperature control in each compartment. The new system will allow you to use climate control even during long stops or slow train movement. Thanks to the use of stainless steel for the manufacture of bodies, the service life of the new cars will be 50 years, which is two decades longer than the service life of standard rolling stock.
Among the 100 new cars ordered by Ukrzaliznytsia, 5 will be compartment cars with the possibility of transformation into SV-type cars. One of them will be inclusive, with an electric lift, a ramp for a high platform and an extended compartment adapted for passengers in wheelchairs.
“The cost of purchasing one passenger car was about 95 million hryvnias. The cost of a car with a compartment for transporting passengers with disabilities is 98.3 million hryvnias. However, in terms of one seat and taking into account the significantly (by 80%) longer useful life of the car and longer intervals between repairs, the purchase of new generation cars turns out to be more economical and efficient than the purchase of standard cars.” – the message emphasizes.
The delivery of wagons is calculated for 2.5 years from the moment of receipt of advance payment from the customer. This period also includes certification procedures for new models. In case of additional funding from the State Budget, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to expand the rolling stock renewal program, in particular by increasing the share of new generation wagons.
