Deputies want to abolish the maximum age of service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

In the Verkhovna Rada offered a legislative initiative that will allow military personnel to continue their service after 60 years. Draft law No. 10084, authored by deputies Oleksandr Yurchenko and Anatoliy Burmich from the “Restoration of Ukraine” faction, provides for the abolition of age restrictions for military personnel who wish to remain in the army.

The authors of the initiative argue for its need to involve experienced military personnel and the fight against age discrimination. If the law is passed, men over 60 will be able to continue to serve, provided they are properly trained and in good health. The main requirement will be the personal desire of the military.

Lawyer Maryna Bekalo explained that this draft law does not concern the mobilization of civilians:

“The changes apply only to active servicemen who reached the age limit during martial law, but wish to remain in the service.”

Summons will not be issued to men over the age of 60, as the mobilization age remains within the range of 18–60 years.
