Zelenskyy carried out personnel reshuffles in the military command

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi carried out personnel changes in the military command. The relevant decrees are published on the official website of the head of state.

According to the decree №384/2025, Drapato was appointed commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, “after long discussions, it was decided that he will focus exclusively on combat issues in order to fully deal with the front.” Before his new appointment, Drapaty headed the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It is currently unknown who will take over this position after him.

By decree №386/2025 Robert Brovdi (Magyar) was appointed as the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, while Vadym Sukharevskyi was dismissed from this position according to the decree №383/2025. The president announced that Sukharevskyi will now perform the duties of deputy commander of the operational command “East”, where his main task is the modernization of this command.

By decree №385/2025 Oleg Apostol was appointed to the post of commander of the Airborne Assault Forces. Ihor Skybyuk, who was dismissed from this position by decree №382/2025, became deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov confirmed new appointments in the Ground Forces:

“Today, together with the President of Ukraine and the military leadership, we made important personnel decisions to strengthen our forces at the front. Another person will soon be appointed to the Ground Forces, who will focus exclusively on the issues of generating our forces — recruiting, mobilization, military training and implementing new approaches in these processes to ensure quality training of fighters.”
