The Cabinet of Ministers appoints Nadiya Leshchyk as the Education Ombudsman of Ukraine
The government has approved the appointment of Nadiya Leshchyk as Ukraine’s education ombudsman, according to the government’s representative in parliament, Taras Melnychuk, and her predecessor, Serhiy Gorbachev.
‘The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed (…) Leshchyk Nadiia Vsevolodivna as the Education Ombudsman,’ Melnychuk wrote on his Telegram channel.
‘Today, on 1 November 2024, the government supported the candidacy of Ms Leshchyk for this position. I congratulate her and am ready to support her in this difficult work!’ Gorbachev wrote on Facebook.
On 16 August, the government dismissed Serhiy Horbachov from the post of Education Ombudsman of Ukraine.
Since 2019, Nadiia Leshchyk has been the head of the Media and Analytics Department at the Education Ombudsman Service. She also took part in the competition for the position of head of the municipal non-profit enterprise Kyiv City Education Agency and in 2021 was a member of the Golos party team in Brovary.
Leshchyk publicly announced her participation in the competition, emphasising that with five years of experience, she had a good understanding of the main problems in the field of human rights protection.
After the release of Serhiy Gorbachev, Leshchyk actively dealt with the issues that citizens addressed to the service.
