The Ministry of Defense denied information that “Reserve+” tracks users’ geolocation

Ministry of Defense refuted information spread on the network about the alleged collection of geolocation and digital data of users by the “Rezerv+” application.

“Since yesterday, misinformation about the alleged collection of data by the “Rezerv+” application — in particular geolocation and digital data of users — has been spreading on the Internet. Its purpose is to sow distrust in digitalization, raise doubts about the operation of state applications, and hinder the mobilization process in Ukraine.” – emphasized in the ministry.

The department emphasized that “Rezerv+” does not track users’ geolocation. The only permissions the app has are access to the camera (for scanning QR codes) and notifications. The Ministry of Defense also explained that the application works exclusively with information that the user himself submits through BankID, as well as with separate data from the “Oberig” registry.

All procedures are carried out openly, and the system itself has successfully passed checks in accordance with current legislation on technical information protection and information security standards. The Ministry called on citizens not to succumb to informational provocations, check the facts and trust only official sources.

“There is no evidence in any of the screenshots published on the web that it is specifically about Reserve+. The given piece of Java code is not related to this application and is typical, it can be used in any other products.” – added in the department.
