Zelenskyy discussed with Kellogg strengthening air defense and new sanctions against Russia

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi spent a meeting in Rome with the special representative of the US President for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg. The meeting took place on the eve of the International Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine. Among the main topics of discussion are the strengthening of the air defense system and the introduction of new sanctions against Russia.
“A meaningful conversation with the special representative of the US President for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg. He thanked me for participating in the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine: the general heads the American delegation.
They discussed the supply of weapons and the strengthening of air defense. Against the background of increasing Russian attacks, this is one of the priorities. They also talked about the purchase of American weapons, joint defense production and localization in Ukraine.” – said Zelenskyi.
According to the president, special attention was paid to sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation.
“We understand that stricter restrictions against the Russian energy industry and especially secondary sanctions against buyers of Russian oil are needed. We hope for the movement of the bill by Senators Graham and Blumenthal in the US Congress.”, – explained Zelensky.
He emphasized that the new sanctions “can definitely make Russia think more about peace.”
It will be recalled that on July 9, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the President of Italy Sergio Mattarella in Rome, during which the parties discussed possible ways to end the Russian-Ukrainian war and bring the aggressor state to justice.
Among the other topics of the dialogue were the restoration of Ukraine, the return of Ukrainian children who were forcibly taken to Russia, the advancement of Ukraine on the path of European integration, the strengthening of sanctions against the Russian Federation, as well as the creation of a Special Tribunal on the crime of aggression by Russia.
