The bodies of another 1,245 fallen defenders were returned in the final stage of repatriation efforts

On June 16, the final stage of repatriation activities took place, which were carried out in accordance with the agreements in Istanbul. Another 1,245 bodies were returned to Ukraine, which, according to the Russian side, belong to Ukrainian servicemen. About this informs the press service of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Thus, within the framework of the Istanbul agreements, Ukraine has already received 6,057 bodies. All necessary examinations and procedures for identification of repatriated bodies will be conducted by law enforcement investigators together with experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The repatriation became possible thanks to the joint work of the staff of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Office of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons in Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and other structures of the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine.
“Special thanks to the personnel of the Central Directorate of the Central Directorate of the Central Security Service of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Joint Center for the Provision of Events of the Central Security Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which carries out the transportation of repatriates to designated state specialized institutions, organizes the transfer of the deceased to representatives of law enforcement agencies in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and forensic medical examination in the system of the Ministry of Health.” – noted in the headquarters.
