A private school opened free access to courses for children affected by the war

During the full-scale war, Ukrainian schoolchildren faced a number of problems. In addition to threats to life and health, psychological stress, there were gaps in education. Moving to other countries, distance education, air strikes – all this has worsened the quality of education.
In order to fill the gaps in students’ knowledge and make up for what was missed, the Ministry of Education and Science, together with charitable organizations and other partners, initiated the implementation of a number of projects. In particular, abbreviated courses on Ukrainian language and literature, history and geography have been created, a system of re-enrollment of grades from schools in other countries has been developed, several online schools have been launched, which will help students catch up with the school curriculum in a month or two.
Now, a proposal from the private innovative school Unicorn School has been added to such initiatives. The institution provided free access to its Edmaps educational platform for thousands of Ukrainian students in grades 1-11. This will allow students to learn remotely, even without access to the Internet. The platform contains thousands of videos, games, tasks, interactive exercises, which makes the learning process more interesting.
The main goal of this program is to help students from Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa and other regions where traditional forms of education have become impossible. Technological support is necessary to meet priority educational needs.
“We understand the importance of continuous education, especially in the current environment. Our educational platform Edmaps provides all the necessary resources so that children can continue learning even in the absence of the Internet. We know that today most children cannot feel in a safe environment, and the gamification of the educational process allows distract from the complex reality and make the learning process interesting and effective.” said the director of Unicorn School Volodymyr Strashko.
This year, Unicorn School and Edmaps were part of the national delegation at the Viva Technology international exhibition of modern technologies, where they presented their educational platform and the achievements of the Ukrainian EdTech sphere.
Unicorn School research has shown that Edmaps’ modern game approach and student attention mechanics increase children’s interest in learning by 61% and academic performance by 30% compared to traditional schools.
