In Dnipro, the body of an 11-year-old boy with his hands tied behind his back was found, who was raped by a man

Police in Dnipro are investigating the brutal murder and rape of an 11-year-old boy. Law enforcement officers have detained a 40-year-old man on suspicion of committing this crime. This was reported on May 28 by the police of the Dnipropetrovsk region and the Prosecutor General’s Office (OGP).

The child was reported missing to the police on the evening of May 27. The boy’s relatives said that he went for a walk on May 26 and did not return home. During the investigation, it turned out that on the evening of the day of his disappearance, the child called his grandmother. The boy warned her that he planned to stay overnight with a friend, but he never reached his friend. By the time law enforcement officers and relatives began an active search, the child was no longer alive.

On the morning of May 28, the boy’s body was found in one of the abandoned buildings in the city. The child’s hands were tied behind his back, and obvious signs of violent death were recorded on the body. Investigators established that the boy was the victim of premeditated murder, and also, presumably, was sexually assaulted.

Witnesses to the incident told police that they saw the child in the company of an unknown man. Thanks to the first-class operational actions, the police of the Dnipropetrovsk region, together with representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office, identified and detained a 40-year-old suspect. He turned out to be an acquaintance of the deceased boy, who had previously served time for committing similar crimes.

The detainee confessed to the crime during interrogation. According to him, on May 27 at about 12:30, he raped the child, after which he strangled her. Currently, the man has been charged under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: intentional murder of a minor and rape (part 6 of article 152)

Law enforcement officers are preparing a petition to the court to choose the most severe preventive measure for the detainee – detention without bail.
