After the scandal in the White House, monobank opened a fundraiser to create nuclear weapons for Ukraine
On March 1, after the scandal in the White House, the co-founder of monobank Oleg Horokhovskyi announced in his Telegram channel the start of fundraising for the creation of nuclear weapons for Ukraine. He noted that the initiative arose at the numerous requests of Ukrainians.
In less than half an hour after the start of the campaign (at 01:37 Kyiv time), there were already 2 million hryvnias in the account, and in less than a day the total amount exceeded 23 million and continues to grow.
Horokhovsky, without hiding his emotions, wrote:
“This is Ukraine, baby! I’m so proud!!! 10 million in 10 hours! There’s nothing to comment on…”.
About 70,000 participants from 61 countries joined the initiative, mostly from Ukraine, the USA and Poland.
This event took place against the background of a tense meeting between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and the American leader Donald Trump in Washington on February 28. The main goal of the negotiations was to sign an agreement on cooperation in the field of minerals, but the discussion quickly turned into a dispute.
Tensions increased after Zelensky’s words about the importance of security guarantees for Ukraine and the need for more active participation of the US in international negotiations. US Vice President JD Vance intervened in the conversation, whose reaction testified to significant differences between the positions of Kyiv and Washington.
