Anthropic Launches Claude for Education Chatbot for Students and Teachers

Anthropic company announced about the launch of the new Claude for Education chatbot. It is positioned as a response to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Edu and is aimed at student and teaching audiences.

A key feature of the product is Learning Mode, a tool designed to develop students’ critical thinking rather than simply providing ready-made answers. In this mode, Claude asks clarifying questions, checks the level of understanding of the material, explains the basic principles of solving problems and provides templates for creating educational materials, scientific texts, summaries and manuals.

University administrators will also be able to use Claude to analyze academic trends in student work and to automate responses to common electronic inquiries, reducing the workload on staff.

The launch of Claude for Education is part of Anthropic’s strategy to expand its presence in the education sector and grow its revenue. According to reports, the company currently earns about $115 million per month and plans to double that figure by 2025, including by competing with OpenAI in education.

Anthropic has already partnered with leading educational institutions, including Northeastern University in Boston, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Champlain College. Northeastern University serves as a development partner, and the company engages students, faculty and staff to create effective practices for integrating AI into the educational process.
