“He exceeded the ‘pain threshold’ of Poles”: Navrotsky explained why he deprived Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle
On June 20, Polish President Karol Nawrocki stated that the decision to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle was due to the fact that his act exceeded the “threshold of pain” of Poles. Nawrocki said this in a statement quoted by TVN 24.
During celebrations marking the National Day of the Silesian Uprisings, Nawrocki stressed that the Polish people are well aware of both the struggle for independence and the Russian threat, but Zelensky’s actions, he said, have crossed the “threshold of pain.” He noted that during the 20th century, Poland remained free for only 31 years, and the rest of the time it resisted the rule of foreign powers.
“Either we fought with Soviet troops in 1920, or suffered as victims of German and Soviet totalitarianism, or fought with Soviet colonialists after 1945 until 1989.
Yes, we know what war is, we know what the struggle for independence is, we know what the post-Soviet, and today the Russian threat is, but we are a proud Polish nation and we have our own threshold of pain in matters that concern us and our allies. And this threshold of pain has been exceeded, so I deprived President Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle,” Karol Navrotskyi said.
