NATO will send a high-ranking official to Kyiv who will be responsible for coordinating military supplies to Ukraine

NATO will send a high-ranking official to Kyiv who will be responsible for coordinating military supplies to Ukraine. This event is part of initiatives to strengthen long-term support for Ukraine, which will be announced at the Alliance summit next week. informs The Wall Street Journal.

It is noted that these steps are aimed at supporting Ukraine’s prospects in NATO without granting it membership. The alliance also intends to counter the rise of right-wing forces in Europe and the possible return of Donald Trump to the post of US president.

In addition, NATO will create a new command in Wiesbaden (Germany) to coordinate military supplies to Kyiv and train the Ukrainian military.

The senior civilian official in Kyiv will focus on Ukraine’s long-term needs for military modernization and non-military support, working with both the command in Wiesbaden and NATO headquarters in Brussels.

This operation will be staffed by nearly 700 military and other allied personnel from 32 member nations of the Alliance and will take over most of the tasks performed by the US military since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

It will be recalled that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that he does not expect an agreement on Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance at the July summit.
