In September, the medical “ReabiCenter” for more than 1,000 patients will be operational: Oles Dovgyi (video)
The facility will function as a branch of the Institute and will provide rehabilitation services to military personnel free of charge.
“ReabiCenter” opened its doors for doctors of the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. The renovation work is completed, and the rehabilitation space with an area of more than 500 square meters. m includes a mechanotherapy room, treatment and massage rooms, a physiotherapy room, a FRM doctor, and two offices of a psychologist. The premises are also equipped with inclusive toilets.
“Rehabilitation of defenders, as well as civilians who suffered from the war, is one of the key challenges for Ukraine. Timely and high-quality rehabilitation is possible if there is a team of doctors and a medical space where they can conduct treatment. A year ago, I promised the doctors of the Rehabilitation Clinic Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, that they will have such a room. Today we held a technical opening and are waiting for the installation of the equipment. Psychologists can already work in their offices.”, – noted Oles Dovgyi, author of the “ReabiCenter” initiative.
The opening of “ReabiCenter” for patients is planned for September. The installation of modern equipment will take place within the framework of the joint project of the World Bank and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine HEAL Ukraine. According to Yuri Polyachenko, director of the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of NAMNU, the rehabilitation space will function as a department of the Institute and provide rehabilitation services to military personnel free of charge.
“This is an important event for us. Until today, we had only 30 beds for inpatients. A new inclusive, barrier-free space with modern equipment was our dream and the need of the hour. Now we receive up to 300 requests per month for admission rehabilitation. We have formed a multidisciplinary team and are ready to work for our defenders.”, – said Nataliya Borzykh, head of the rehabilitation department, doctor of medical sciences, traumatologist-orthopedic, doctor of the Federal Ministry of Health.
“ReabiCenter” is an initiative of Oles Dovhoy. The first project to create a center for rehabilitation at the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was officially launched on August 4, 2023, with the signing of a tripartite memorandum between the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and the “We Can Together” charitable foundation, which performs the function of administrative – technical platform of the initiative.
