MP: Doctors are being transferred to assault units and sent to the frontline

MP Hanna Skorokhod confirmed that medical workers in Ukraine are being transferred to assault positions to take part in combat operations at the front. She said this on the air of Radio Liberty.

Skorokhod noted that she had personally received appeals from medical workers who were being transferred to combat positions. Among them are doctors, nurses and rehabilitators who are not suitable for infantry tasks, especially given the acute shortage of medical staff in hospitals.

This is indeed true information. I was directly approached by doctors. The transfer involved ordinary doctors, nurses, rehabilitation specialists who cannot become infantry because we already have a huge shortage of staff in hospitals,’ Skorokhod stressed.

She also noted that in some cases, people are kept in secondary positions, while it is medical specialists who join the infantry. She cited the example of a rehabilitation therapist she knows who was assigned to the role of a rifleman, depriving him of the opportunity to perform his main profession.

He stopped being a doctor in the war, in fact,’ Skorokhod added.

When asked about the scale of the phenomenon, the MP clarified that it could affect up to 20% of medical staff. According to her, the order was issued by the commander of the Medical Forces, although there have been attempts to suspend its implementation. However, medical workers, including nurses and paramedics, are again filing complaints about being transferred to combat units.
