Through Diya, Ukrainians opened a record number of FOPs in the 1st quarter of 2024
In the first quarter of 2024, Ukrainians actively use the possibilities of the online service "Diya" to open their own businesses.
During this period, a record number of new individual entrepreneurs (PPOs) was registered. According to the data released by the Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology Mykhailo Fedorov, in the first three months of this year, Ukrainians opened 57,665 new businesses through Diya. This is almost twice as much as in the same period of the previous year.
If we compare the data for the first quarter of previous years, the situation looks as follows:
2024 — 57,665
2023 — 40,713
2022 — 28,849
That is, in the 1st quarter of 2024, the number of new FOPs almost doubled.
This significant increase in the number of new FOPs shows the growing interest of Ukrainians in entrepreneurial activity and the opportunities provided by “Diya” for quick and convenient business registration. It is worth noting that in recent years, Ukraine has undergone significant changes in the policy of supporting entrepreneurship, which may be one of the factors contributing to the increase in the number of new enterprises.
It is noteworthy that more women (58%) than men (42%) will become entrepreneurs in 2024. This may indicate the growing influence of women on the country’s economy and their activity in working on their own business projects.
Ukrainians are opening sole proprietorships in various fields, such as hairdressing services, retail trade, Internet trade, computer programming and education, which shows the diversity and wide opportunities for business development in Ukraine. At the same time, the field of hairdressing services became the most popular among new FOPs, increasing fourfold (+19,400). Other popular fields include retail trade (+18,100), internet trade (+17,900) and computer programming (+17,500). At the same time, education became a new popular field, which was included in the top ten new FOPs.
Kyiv continues to remain the unchanged leader in the ranking of regions in terms of the number of new business openings, having registered 44,600 FOPs (14% of the total number).
In general, these data show positive trends in the field of entrepreneurship in Ukraine and confirm the importance of the development of state programs and services aimed at supporting and stimulating entrepreneurial activity.
