NABU announced the completion of the investigation into the case of the deputy chairman of the Rivne Regional Council

NABU and SAP completed the pre-trial investigation in the case of the suspicion of the Deputy Chairman of the Rivne Regional Council, Serhii Svistaluk, in receiving an illegal benefit in the amount of 500,000 hryvnias. This was reported by the press service of law enforcement agencies, without disclosing the name of the suspect. However, according to the publication “Word and deed“, it is about Svistaluk.
“On August 26, 2024, the SAP prosecutor decided to complete the pre-trial investigation in the case of the deputy chairman of the Rivne Regional Council, who in May of this year was found to have received half a million hryvnias in illegal benefits for solving land and property issues.”, says the official statement of the prosecutor’s office.
Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court determined the bail amount for the deputy chairman of the Rivne Regional Council in the amount of 500,000 hryvnias.
We will remind that NABU and SAP raised suspicions against Svistaluk after it became known about his possible involvement in a corruption scheme. According to the investigation data, at the end of 2021, one of the entrepreneurs bought a non-working children’s sanatorium, which was previously owned by the municipality, at an electronic auction.
Having learned that the buyer intends to take ownership of the sanatorium’s material assets and the plot of land under it, Svistalyuk offered his help in solving these issues. It was about the write-off of the property and the adoption by the Rivne Regional Council of a decision to sell a plot of land with an area of 5.4 hectares. For such “services” during 2022-2023, the official received an illegal benefit from the entrepreneur in the total amount of almost half a million hryvnias.
