In Chernivtsi, the ESBU exposed a scheme of fraud with “charitable” cars

In Chernivtsi, an official of one of the charitable foundations organized an illegal scheme of importing cars from abroad under the guise of humanitarian aid. Avoiding customs duties, he later sold these cars for cash. This is reported by the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine.
“The investigation established that officials of the charitable foundation and their accomplices illegally imported 21 cars under the guise of humanitarian aid for charitable organizations from the beginning of 2024. The cars were later sold for cash.”, says the message.
BEB detectives searched one of the parking lots, where a car was found that the participants of the scheme planned to sell. During the searches, the car itself, its documents, a mobile phone and cash were seized.
The person involved in the case is suspected of having committed a criminal offense under Part 2 Art. 201-4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of 1.7 million hryvnias. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.
