Scandal in Ternopil Oblast: an employee of the TCC sold humanitarian cars

Under the procedural guidance of the Ternopil specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Western region, a 46-year-old military serviceman of the district territorial center of recruitment and social support was notified of suspicion based on the fact of the illegal sale of humanitarian aid with the aim of obtaining a significant amount of profit during martial law (Part 3 of Article 201- 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). About this reported special prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Western region.
According to the investigation, the suspect sold vehicles imported to Ukraine through charity funds, which were supposed to be given to the military free of charge. Instead, he found “customers” among military personnel and offered to buy three cars – an Opel Frontera, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Nissan X-Trail – for $13,200. These cars were stored on the territory of the TCC.
Law enforcement officers documented his criminal activity and detained the suspect in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. Currently, the prosecutor’s office has submitted a petition to the court to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the investigators of the Main Department of the National Police of the Ternopil region based on the materials of the SBU military counter-intelligence.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 7 years with an additional three-year restriction on holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities, as well as confiscation of property.
It should be noted that according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until his guilt has been legally proven and established by a court verdict.
