The European Commission approved the new terms of the Ukraine Facility and submitted the plan for consideration by the EU Council
The European Commission has approved the updated plan for the Ukraine Facility mechanism and submitted the document for approval to the EU Council. This is a list of reforms that Ukraine must implement in order to receive the second budgetary tranche of financing within the EU package of 90 billion euros in 2026. The amount of the payment is 8.35 billion euros.
This was announced by the European Commission spokesman Guillaume Mercier, answering questions from journalists in Brussels. According to him, the document was reworked within the framework of the credit support for Ukraine and agreed with the Ukrainian side.
“In the context of the credit to support Ukraine, one of the documents that required re-discussion and amendments was the Ukraine Plan – a list of reforms that Ukraine must implement in order to receive financial support within the framework of the Ukraine Facility mechanism. This document has been discussed and agreed with the Ukrainian partners. On our part, this work is complete,” Mercier said.
He also reported that the European Commission has already sent an updated document to the EU Council.
“It is the EU Council that must approve the updated plan for Ukraine,” the European Commission spokesman stressed.
The Ukrainian government had previously approved changes to the Ukraine Facility plan agreed with the European Commission. The new approach provides for stricter conditions for reforms, the implementation of which is necessary to receive macro-financial tranches.
Further payments to Ukraine will depend on the decision of the EU Council and the implementation of updated commitments within the framework of the Ukraine Facility mechanism.
