Ukraine tightens power outage schedules

In Ukraine, due to extreme heat and power shortages, power supply restriction schedules are intensifying. Additional pressure on the power system is being created by damage to generation due to Russian attacks.

According to data of energy market monitoring, the situation in the regions remains tense and is changing towards more severe scenarios. Some distribution system operators have already introduced additional outage queues for the evening of June 30, and an increase in the duration of restrictions is expected on July 1.

In Zaporizhia region, on July 1, hourly outage schedules may be applied for the population from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the amount of one to one and a half queues at a time. For industry and business, full application of capacity restriction schedules is expected during this period. Similar measures are expected in Vinnytsia region and in Prykarpattia.

On the evening of June 30, some regional energy companies promptly tightened the already announced schedules. In particular, additional restrictions were planned in Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy and Rivne regions. In Sumy region, emergency shutdowns were applied during the day, which were later replaced by stricter special schedules.

Ukrenergo NPP emphasizes that the main factor in the worsening situation was the hot weather, which causes a sharp increase in consumption against the background of significant damage to the generation. In the coming days, the power system will operate in a tense mode, so consumers should monitor the messages of their regional energy companies.
