Russia has banned the publication of official statistics on fuel prices on the domestic market
Rosstat will stop publishing the bulletin on consumer prices for gasoline and diesel fuel. The Russian government has made the corresponding changes to the federal statistical work plan. This is reported by The Bell.
The order refers to the removal of paragraph 1.5.13. It was under this paragraph that the federal statistical work plan of Rosstat provided for the publication of information on consumer prices for petroleum products.
“Behind this combination of numbers in the Federal Plan of Statistical Work of Rosstat, which mentions all available statistical indicators, is “Information on Consumer Prices for Petroleum Products”,” explains The Bell.
This bulletin contained data on fuel prices broken down by brand, region, and 1,800 gas stations in 280 cities.
“In essence, the information that could be used to monitor and check fuel inflation will disappear,” the report says.
According to the latest data from Russian statistics, from June 16 to 22, gasoline in Russia rose by 3% against the backdrop of a shortage, and diesel fuel by 2.7%. Bloomberg notes that this is the maximum weekly increase in at least the past 20 years.
The price of gasoline rose the most in the Caucasus: in Dagestan by 16.5%, and in Chechnya by 15.2%. The cessation of publication of the bulletin will make it difficult to independently track the dynamics of fuel prices in Russia.
