The European Commission supported the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU

Ukraine has fulfilled all the necessary conditions for the start of negotiations on joining the European Union. The European Commission supports the opening of the negotiation process regarding Ukraine’s membership in the EU, now the word is for the EU. About this stated head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
“Under continuous fire, Ukraine is carrying out reform after reform. That is why the Commission advocates the opening of the first block of negotiations. Ukraine has fulfilled its obligations – now we have to fulfill them too.” – says the statement.
Von der Leyen emphasized that joining the EU is based on the achievements of the candidate country, and noted that Ukraine deserves to move further in this direction. She also assured of steady support for Ukraine both in the military and political dimensions.
In particular, the head of the European Commission reported that the EU has already allocated 1 billion euros to support Ukraine’s defense industry at the expense of profits from frozen Russian assets. In addition, the European Union is ready to advance the balance of 11 billion euros from the G7 credit package, taking into account the urgency of the financial assistance.
“We are on the way to achieving the goal of delivering 2 million artillery shells to Ukraine in 2025. And we are ready to provide the balance of 11 billion euros from the G7 loans in advance, because we understand how important it is for Ukraine to receive these funds now.”, — noted Ursula von der Leyen.
In the political context, according to her, the EU will continue to put pressure on Russia to force it into a constructive dialogue, which should start with a ceasefire. In this context, the 18th package of sanctions is already being prepared, which is planned to be adopted in the near future.
