Trump says he’s ready to bomb Iran again if Tehran violates deal
US President Donald Trump has said that the current agreement with Iran is not a final agreement and has threatened to resume military action if Tehran violates the terms. The Guardian reports.
Trump made the statement while speaking to reporters at the G7 summit. According to him, the document has the status of a memorandum of understanding, and further US action will depend on the behavior of the Iranian authorities.
“It’s not final. It’s a memorandum of understanding, and if I don’t like it, we’ll go back to bombing them, dropping bombs on their heads,” Trump said.
The US president also said he was prepared to take tough action if Tehran did not comply with the agreement.
“If I don’t like it, if they don’t behave properly, we’ll go back to dropping bombs on their heads, okay? Because they’ve been behaving badly for 47 years,” Trump concluded.
Earlier, the leaders of the US and Iran announced their approval of a peace agreement to be signed on June 19 in Switzerland. Among the conditions were the lifting of the US blockade of Iranian ports and the provision of passage for oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump’s statement shows that Washington views the agreements as a preliminary stage and reserves the possibility of a forceful response if the agreement is broken.
