Ukraine Joins the Global Platform of the Climate Club: A New Stage of Environmental Cooperation

Ukraine became a member of the Global Platform of the Climate Club, which is a tool for accelerating the process of decarbonization of high-emission industries and the development of industry with low or zero emissions. About this reported Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine. The announcement of the launch of the Platform took place during the UN Climate Conference COP29.
This initiative promotes international cooperation, attracting investments and advanced technologies that help countries make the transition to environmentally friendly production processes. It supports the implementation of global goals, in particular the achievement of zero emissions and temperature limits defined in the Paris Agreement.
The main purpose of the Platform is to create effective interaction between countries in need of support and international investors, as well as to provide access to the latest technologies. Participation in this project will allow to attract international partners to restore the ecological situation in Ukraine.
Also, according to the first deputy minister Olena Kramarenko, the pollution of the Seim and Desna rivers, which in August-September caused the deterioration of water quality in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, has already been eliminated.
We would like to remind that according to the estimates of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, losses Ukraine’s losses from ecological destruction due to the war have already reached €60 billion. Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada approved the appointment of Svitlana Grynchuk to the post of Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
