In Ukraine, they want to increase the training of specialists in vocational education centers for business needs by 5-10 times

In order to solve the problem of the lack of qualified personnel for business, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, together with the State Employment Service, plan to significantly increase the volume of specialist training in vocational education centers.

This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetyana Berezhna during a business forum in Odesa. We are talking about increasing the potential of these centers by 5-10 times to meet the demand of employers for qualified workers.

As noted Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetyana Berezhna, one of the main challenges in the modern labor market is structural unemployment. It is a phenomenon where employers have difficulty finding workers, while workers cannot find work because their qualifications do not match the market’s requirements. According to Berezhnaya, this problem can be solved through training, retraining and raising the professional level of employees.

Berezhna also reminded that Ukraine already has a wide network of vocational and technical education centers subordinate to the State Employment Service, which are able to train specialists for the needs of business. She emphasized that it is important to support these institutions so that they become even more relevant and useful for both employers and employees.

According to Yulia Zhovtyak, director of the State Employment Service, according to surveys, 99% of Ukrainians who study at these centers are satisfied with the education they received, and 90-95% of graduates find a job after graduation.

Currently, there are 8 vocational and technical education centers of the State Employment Service in Ukraine in such cities as Odesa, Poltava, Dnipro, Rivne, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkiv and Sumy. These centers provide training in 97 labor professions and more than 400 areas of professional development. Since the beginning of 2024, 15,000 people have already completed their training.

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine recently announced the beginning of the reform of vocational and technical education centers of the State Employment Service, which provides for the transformation of these institutions into modern educational institutions, where theory is closely combined with practice. This will allow students to gain real practical experience in production, ensuring their qualifications are in line with the needs of the labor market.

In addition, a government experimental project was launched in Ukraine, which provides an opportunity for combatants and persons with war-related disabilities to undergo free vocational training in the institutions of the State Employment Service.
