For the first time since 2013, Ukraine won gold at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship

For the first time since 2013, the national rhythmic gymnastics team of Ukraine won the gold medals of the 2025 World Championship of the year in group exercises with three balls and two hoops.

The Ukrainian team was represented by Elizaveta Azza, Diana Baeva, Valeriya Peremeta, Kira Shirykina and Oleksandra Yushchak. In the final, the gymnasts received a score of 28.650 points, ahead of the Brazilian team with a minimal margin. Athletes from China won bronze medals. For Ukraine, this is only the second gold in the history of the world championships in group exercises — the first victory in this discipline was back in 2002.

Until the last day of the competition, the Ukrainian women had only one award: for the first time in ten years, the national team won the bronze medal. in the team championship. Another medal was brought by Taisiya Onofriychuk, who came third in exercises with a ribbon. And in the finals of the 2025 World Championship, Ukrainian gymnasts added to their achievements the second gold in history. in group exercises – won the competition with three balls and two rings.

Thanks to this success, the Ukrainian national team rose to third place in the medal standings. The victory in the competition was won by the German team, which won five gold medals. The last time Ukraine was in the top three national teams of the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship was in 2013, when Ukrainian athletes took second place at the home championships in Kyiv. Also, the current result has become the most successful since that time — it is the largest number of awards since 2013, when the Ukrainian national team had five medals.
