A complete ceasefire in Ukraine may be agreed in London as early as next week: New York Post

Next week in London, a decision may be made on the complete cessation of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine. As informs The New York Post, citing a high-ranking representative of the US administration, the meeting in the British capital will be a key stage in Washington’s efforts to achieve peace between Kyiv and Moscow.

According to the source, the purpose of the negotiations is to determine the final parameters of a complete and comprehensive ceasefire. After that, the American side intends to hand over the agreed document to the Russian side with the wording “this is your best and final offer.” In case of Moscow’s refusal to participate, the United States, according to the official, is ready to end the negotiations and place the responsibility for the further course of the war on the European allies.

According to the report, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov signaled to the American side that Kyiv is “90%” ready to agree to the proposed peace plan presented by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a recent meeting in Paris. The main reservations of the Ukrainian side currently concern where exactly the demarcation line should pass within the framework of a possible ceasefire.

At the same time, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, as noted by The New York Post, is ready for the scenario of “freezing” the conflict along the current front lines, where Russia currently holds about 20% of Ukrainian territory.

The American administration hopes that the meeting in London will be decisive in the attempt to end the war in Ukraine. However, as noted in Washington, Donald Trump is ready to withdraw from the negotiations if Russia does not agree to the terms of the peace agreement.
